NAVIO Technology System|Ambulatory Surgery Center of Boca Raton

The Ambulatory Surgery Center of Boca Raton provides the latest in research, technology, and treatments. Our progressive multi-specialty medical group utilizes advanced treatment to provide quality and convenient care to our patients.

One of our many advancements used at ASC Boca is the NAVIO system – advancement in the way our orthopedic surgeons perform partial knee replacements. With its robotics system, this technology allows doctors to perform surgeries more precisely and with greater freedom.

In severely diseased knee joints, ASC Boca can help relieve pain and restore function with minimally invasive knee replacement procedures.

The NAVIO robotics system is the only handheld robotics system available for knee surgery. Featuring cutting-edge technology and a compact footprint, it provides full portability and seamlessly integrates into OR and surgical center workflows.

As a result, this advanced system provides guaranteed results due to its clinically proven accuracy.

With this new next-generation technology, surgeons will be able to replace total knees, which account for 80% of all knee surgeries!

The robotics system will first map the bone surface intraoperatively rather than performing a preoperative CT scan. The tissue is evaluated to help the surgeon better position the implant.

The mapping of the bone surface is used to create a 3D representation of the bone structure to guide the surgeon's precision when inserting the implant. The surgeon is able to then accurately remove the damaged part of the knee with the assistance of the NAVIO robotics system.

Lastly, the surgeon will use the robotics system to ensure the implant has been inserted accurately as intended. The most remarkable part of this technology is its ability to collect patient-specific data ultimately allowing the joint to become balanced. The surgery is completely tailored to your injury and needs. In contrast to traditional knee replacements, which require cutting blocks or guides on the femur and tibia to direct a surgical saw that removes the damaged bone, arthroscopic knee replacements are much easier.

This technology advancement has been ready since 2014 and has proven to increase the success rate of knee replacements. The surgeon makes a small incision allowing the patient to recover more quickly and effectively with less room for infection.

During this procedure, a surgeon will use a microscope or endoscope making the incision incredibly small. For these reasons, laser spine surgery is typically a much safer procedure compared to alternative options.

Patients who have osteoarthritis in the knees may be a good candidates for this procedure. It is important to note that the NAVIO robotics system is not the right technology for every patient.

If you are pregnant or have a neuromuscular disorder you are not a candidate for the NAVIO system. Therefore, it is highly recommended to consult your physician and get properly diagnosed before seeking out this treatment.
